Need to sleep

I just browsed through Forward Motion again and came across an amazing link.

http://coyotecult.com/communities/sfandf_critters/references/limyaael.php

I pretty much read until my eyes bled. That being said, I am going to bed now (hopefully) to rest my bleeding eyes. However, now that all these ideas are percolating in my brain, that might be easier said than done.

To Do List: Go through my characters in Christian's story and Soulflien's story and begin mercilessly stamping out cliches. Mercilessly, I tell you.

This was also what made me realize it was time to get start blogging again. Probably because my personal blog just didn't seem the right place for all this stuff. Well, that being said, it is REALLY late now and I can't see a thing. Night folks.

A long vacation...

So it's been a while since I have visited. What? A year?

*Sighs*

At any rate, I've decided that I am back for good and that there is no use crying over lost time. As for a quick update:

1) I don't play World of Warcraft as much as I used to. In fact, I quit the game for a while and only recently came back to it. Mostly just to be with friends and for some casual play.

2) It's moving time soon! Jonathan and I are going to be moving out with friends in September. Into a place of our own. This is exciting news :)

3) Marked by Fire is shelved for now. It was a learning curve. For a long time I considered it a waste of time, but I realized this was the wrong perspective. I enjoyed writing it and if I can look back at it and realize my mistakes and avoid them in future writings then it was worth every ounce of joy and pain.

4) Christian and Soulflien's stories are my main focus now. I am going to enjoy them and get serious about writing them again. The time for procrastination is at its end.

5) I believe that is most of it for now. That D&D rant is still coming. I realized I had the first draft saved her for almost a year. Heh. Also I will be transferring over a few writing related thoughts from my personal blog. That's all for now.

Ciao

Miscellaneous Shnarb.

I never really figured out how to spell that word exactly, but its a phrase that my brother uses to encompass numerous things that have no real catergory, so it feels like it fits. Hmm what shnarb is for today...

1) The move (Final phases complete): My husband and I live with my brother and his wife while we get on our feet financially- being married at 21 and 22 respectively is not an easy feat for the unwary. Jonathan is working toward completing his electrical ticket and I am going for my bachelors of art in history, classes begin this fall again. But anyhow, I digress. The move was a matter of renovating one of their basement rooms (originally a carport) in which we painted, fixed lighting, ripped out old carpet and put in new with underlay. An entirely long project which was finally finished wednesday night as we unpacked the towers of our things from around various locations of the house and put them in our new room. It looks great. I will have to take a photo sometime and post it.

2) Writing on Monday and Tuesday was wonderful... Wednesday and Thursday were a complete drag :( Hopefully today will be good. I managed to get a goodly amount done on Christian's story (the knight who stops the Apocalypse) and so that pleases me.

3) The raiding of Molten Core is an entirely addictive thing. I can't help it. Purples dropping brings glee to my heart. Ok, enough World of Warcraft... lol. No wonder I was up so late last nite :(

4) I actually plan in the near future to get photos and drawings up here once I get them scanned. I am a bit of an artist. I don't count myself as particularly talented but I have seen worse. Then again, I have seen better, but then there will always be someone better, I am sure. Ah, Leonardo... At any rate, those pictures will be coming soon. Mostly they are of characters in my books or in my mind that just need to have a face I can look at from time to time.

5) It's the weekend! That means not a lot of writing/blogging will get done again til Monday. The weekends are reserved entirely for my love and our friends. Sundays are Dungeons and Dragons days as well as bible study. (I know that to many people, including Jonathan's family, this seems to be a contradiction of events, but I know the truth--See coming post.) Our campaigns actually give me so much inspiration. I will post bits and pieces of Christian's story as we go along, which is actually Jonathan's D&D character from a past campaign. Mind you, I am completely rearrange the story for the purposes of the novel (there was no dragonriders of the Apocalypse) but the character is still there. If you can find a mature group of players, it's actually great fun, and great inspiration for those stories you want to tell.

Me and my love.

Put a face to the name: Here is a picture of me and my husband taken a couple of years ago when we were first engaged. His name is Jonathan and I like to refer to him as my Knight in Shining Armor... mind you, there are times when his armor gets rusty, a problem even the best knights must face from time to time. Or perhaps I am simply too much of an idealist and definitely a romantic. At any rate...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words... who knows?

Beginnings

Well now, seeing as how this is the first post of my new blog (dedicated almost solely to the trials and triumphs of writing) I suppose there should be some sort of background information about me in here.

Let me see... I am:

Female.
21.
Writing fantasy novels with the intent to get published *Cross fingers*
Finished 2 novels and working on number 3 and 4.
Recently married and madly in love.
An addicted World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons player.
An avid reader.

That being said, I am also a terrible insomniac. Sleep evades the creative types, or so I am told. It's alright for the most part though because most of inspiration comes late at night as I listen to the sounds of the hubby snoring into the wee hours of the morning.

So fantasy is my life. I think half the time I would rather live in the world of the characters that I create from moment to moment.

My first real attempt at getting published is with the novel Marked by Fire. Here's an excerpt from my synopsis letter to whet your appetites:

A dragon prince, trapped within a traitorous family, seeks to free his clan from their exile and claim the one woman his savage heart longs for. The path to freedom and love is barred by many obstacles: tradition, pride and his lover’s own dark legacy. Marked by Fire is a tale of forbidden love in an unlikely place. The fiery backdrop of Hell in all its infamous glory places the lovers on a cataclysmic road beset with war, betrayal and demons of the past and present.

I am hoping to exchange this novel for further critiquing online at Forward Motion (Which is an amazing resource. If you write at all, you should be there). At any rate, as edits roll in for Marked by Fire I will be sure to talk more about it in the future. The two Works in progress (WIPS) are:

The Guardian Wars: Return to Paradise
&
A story which I have not yet named about a knight destined to stop the four dragonriders of the Apocalypse

More to come on those in the future. And without further rambling (DISCLAIMER: Worst rambler ever) that is all for now. More to come :)
